The Youth and Community Band rehearse on a Monday evening from 6pm to 7.30pm, at the Chestnut Woodlands Forest School in Moira. Their Musical Director is Matt Pope. Everyone is welcome and the band currently ranges in age from as young as 8 right up to our oldest member who is retired.
The band play a variety of music and there is something for everyone, not just traditional brass band and classical pieces, but music from films like Moana, Planes and Robin Hood as well as popular music from bands like Abba, Queen and Coldplay.
Our Youth and Community Band and Senior band often support each other when they are performing out and about around our local area. They are always out on Remembrance Sunday, leading the parade and playing the Last Post. The Delph in Swadlincote has been the setting for several events in the past year playing Christmas Carols and providing music for the light switch as well as accompanying the Easter and Harvest Festival events for Swadlincote Churches together.
